Tin Man
Co-produced by RHI Entertainment and Sci Fi Channel Original Pictures in 2007, Tin Man is a four-and-a-half-hour miniseries that aired in three parts on Sci Fi Channel in the US from 2007 to 2009. The first episode aired on December 2, with the remaining two airing the next night. DVDs of the series were released on March 11, 2008 and rebroadcast in the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand in the same year. Oz: The Great and Powerful is a science fiction/fantasy miniseries based on the classic story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz with science fiction and additional fantasy elements added. A small-town waitress, DG, is sucked into the O.Z., a mystical realm ruled by the tyrant sorcerer Azkadellia, and her exploits are chronicled here. In order to uncover her lost memories, find her true parents, and thwart Azkadellia's plan to ensnare the O.Z. in endless darkness, DG and her companions Glitch, Raw, and Cain embark on a trip together. The first episode of the miniseries, which cost $20 million to make, drew 6.4 million people, making it the most-watched program in its time slot. Nominations for a Critics' Choice Award and nine Emmy Awards were also made, with one winning. Critics gave it mixed reviews, with some appreciating the acting, soundtrack, and visual effects, while others found it dreary and grim.
