Wycliffe
Based on the detective superintendent Charles Wycliffe novels by W. J. Burley, Wycliffe is a British television series. Following a pilot episode on August7,1993, it was produced by HTV and shown on the ITV Network between July24,1994, and July5, 1998. With a Truro production office, the series was filmed in Cornwall. Nigel Hess wrote the series' music, which won the Royal Television Society award for best television theme. Jack Shepherd portrays Wycliffe, with the assistance of DI Doug Kersey and DI Lucy Lane. Every episode centers on an investigation into a murder. The early series' plots are whodunit-style mysteries that are derived from Burley's books and frequently feature eccentric characters and plot developments. Later seasons adopt a more naturalistic tone and place a greater emphasis on police department politics.
