Flee
Amin reflects on his past as an Afghan child refugee as he grapples with a secret he's kept concealed for 20 years. A riveting documentary combining animation and historical video depicts the story of a gay Afghan survivor and his need to confront his past in order to have a true future. Amin arrived in Denmark from Afghanistan as an unaccompanied teenager. He is now 36 years old, a successful professor, and engaged to his long-term boyfriend. A secret he has been concealing for more than two decades threatens to devastate the life he has created for himself. He's telling his story to a close buddy for the first time. FLEE creates a breathtaking tapestry of images and memories to convey the profoundly moving and unique narrative of a young man fighting with his tragic background in order to discover his true self and the meaning of home.
