VR Troopers
VR Troopers is a live-action superhero TV series from 1994 to 1996. The show capitalized on the early 1990s' virtual reality craze and Power Rangers' popularity. Early CGI and video effects were blended with Japanese stock material from Superhuman Machine Metalder, Dimensional Warrior Spielban, and Space Sheriff Shaider. This approach was first employed in anime series like Robotech and Voltron, but this was one of the first tokusatsu adaptations. BVS International transferred VR Troopers' copyright to SCG Power Rangers on May7, 2010. VR Troopers was the first "sister series" of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. This was an Americanization of a Toei Company LTD. tokusatsu children's show. Successful, though not as successful as Power Rangers. Due to severe circumstances where numerous tokusatsu scenes were combined in one episode, stock footage had to be reused throughout the series. Big Bad Beetleborgs did well but ended shortly owing to a lack of stock footage. Both series are based on Metal Heroes. The show generated toys and a Sega Genesis/Game Gear video game.
